Our main activities

More than a decade ago, Shyam and Nalini Parikh, both in their late sixties, decided it was time for them to give back to the community in a more organized way. The hard work they both put into their careers and immense gratitude for the opportunities they received drove them to create the Parikh Parivar Foundation. From its inception, this organization has been dedicated to improving the lives of others through charitable contributions, with an emphasis on where resources make the most impact.

The Parikh Parivar Foundation, with its motto “Happiness Within,” has continued to foster art and music at the national and international levels, fund education, and support diverse causes. The founders, Nalini and Shyam, have also actively dedicated their time and funds to medical research on Parkinson’s Disease.

The Foundation strives to enhance the well-being and quality of life of individuals of all ages by focusing on their Health and Education and empowering them with cultural skills in the arts, music, and dance.

Care and Cure, the flagship initiative of the Parikh Parivar Foundation, is designed to comfort and enrich lives with music and dance, find better health solutions, and support progress in advanced research on Parkinson’s.

Meet our Founders

Shyam Parikh

From Tech Leader to Community Champion

Shyam, a retired Silicon Valley executive with a strong engineering background, continues to make a significant impact.  After a successful corporate career, he now consults with businesses of all sizes and mentors entrepreneurs, guiding them through technical and business challenges.

Shyam’s lifelong commitment to philanthropy shines through in his volunteer work. Having survived polio at a young age in India, he’s particularly passionate about canvassing for causes like health and poverty alleviation, directly helping those in need. He also supports various organizations through fundraising walks and donations.

A deep love of music, particularly the traditional Indian classical form Dhrupad, has played a transformative role in Shyam’s life.  Studying under the renowned Gundecha Brothers, he’s found that Dhrupad singing offers remarkable neurological benefits, helping him manage the challenges of Parkinson’s. Shyam and his wife Nalini are dedicated supporters of The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Shyam’s story is a testament to the power of using one’s skills, experience, and passions to make a positive difference in the world.
